Literacy Intervention
Toni Brentwood runs our literacy intervention program.
Toni provides small group or 1:1 intervention for students who require assistance with literacy, oral language, receptive and expressive language issues, grammar etc. Toni also provides 1:1 intervention with students who have articulation problems.
SWPBS
School-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.
SWPBS assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.
When SWPBS is implemented well, teachers and students have more time to focus on relationships and classroom instruction.
Students and staff benefit from:
- Increased respectful and positive behaviour
- Increased time focused on instruction
- Improved social-emotional wellbeing
- Positive and respectful relationships among students and staff
- Increased adoption of evidence-based instructional practices
- A predictable learning environment with improved perceptions of safety and increased attendance
RRRR Program
The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships learning materials have been designed for teachers in primary and secondary schools to develop students’ social, emotional and positive relationship skills. Efforts to promote social and emotional skills and positive gender norms in children and young people has been shown to improve health related outcomes and subjective wellbeing. It also reduces antisocial behaviours including engagement in gender-related violence.
The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) learning materials cover eight topics of Social and Emotional Learning across all levels of primary and secondary education: Emotional Literacy.
Koorie Reading Program
Our Koorie reading program is run by Brenda Lincoln, a reading recovery trained teacher. This program provides funding to Victorian government schools to assist Koorie students in prep to year 3 who are achieving below expected levels in literacy and/or numeracy according to teacher assessment. It supports the Government’s commitment to reducing the achievement gap between Koorie and non-Koorie students. Schools use this funding to implement or strengthen practices which address the needs of Koorie students who require extra support with literacy and numeracy.
Koorie Homework Club
Koorie Homework Club is run every Thursday after school. Students are able to come, have a bite to eat, read their reader, listen to a cultural story and join in on cultural activities.
Rotary
The Rotary program is a club for primary school students in Year 6. It is sponsored by Moe Rotary Club. Being involved with Rotary also promotes understanding and the building of friendships among the club members. Rotary also engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles to identify and carry out projects, which benefit their school, local and global communities.
Leadership
Elizabeth Street Primary School offers students in Years 3-6 the opportunity to be active members of our school community. Students are nominated by their peers and participate in the following leadership position opportunities.

- Lizzie Loot Captains
All of these positions are voted on after the interested/nominated students present their ideas for action for the following year,
